The Baton Rouge Metro Airport will soon add direct flights to two new cities, officials announced Tuesday.
Via Airlines will begin nonstop flights to Orlando and Austin on September 13, Baton Rouge airport and Via Airlines officials said at a news conference.
The flights will be offered on a non-daily basis. Flights to Orlando Sanford International Airport will be offered on Mondays and Thursdays, and flights to Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will be offered on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Return flights will be offered on the same days from both cities.
Via Airlines will operate the flights on 50-seat aircraft, which do not have middle seats, an airline official said.
