“Family Guy” Episode Pulled After Boston Tragedy
Although Seth MacFarlane’s animated comedy series, “Family Guy,” often attempts to get laughs from jokes about controversial topics, there is no way that the show was going to make fun of the tragic bombings at the Boston Marathon earlier this week, according to Seth.
A recent episode of the show was set around the lead character, Peter Griffin, winning the Boston Marathon. A fan of the show decided to take a few clips from the episode and edit them in a way that seemed to mock the bombings in Boston. The clip showed Peter dialing a number on his cell phone, and then cut to the marathon where two bombs happened to go off, leaving the attendees screaming. Peter then said,”Damn phone’s busted. Maybe I dialed wrong.” The clip implied that Peter was the one who set the bombs off.
Of course, Seth MacFarlane was not pleased when he heard about the clip. “The edited “Family Guy” clip currently circulating is abhorrent,” MacFarlane tweeted. “The event was a crime and a tragedy, and my thoughts are with the victims.”
After the controversy regarding the episode, FOX decided to take the episode off of their website as well as off of streaming sites such as Hulu.com.
Kevin Hart Arrested for DUI
Comedian Kevin Hart was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of drunk driving in Los Angeles. The actor was pulled over after a policeman reportedly saw Hart’s black Mercedes going 90 mph and almost collide with a tanker truck on the Southern California Freeway.
After failing a field sobriety test, Hart was booked into jail for a misdemeanor DUI and held on a $5000 bond.
The next day, Hart took to his Twitter account to address the situation, tweeting, “Drinking & driving is not a game or a laughing matter…I have to be smarter & last night I wasn’t. Everything happens for a reason.”
The One with a “Friends” Reunion Rumor
It has been almost a decade since the comedy, “Friends,” aired its last episode and fans are ready for a reunion!
Somehow, unknown trolls on the internet started a rumor this week that the beloved show would be returning for a whole reunion season in 2014 and that the reunion was confirmed by NBC. Of course fans and media alike took the news and ran with it, leading many to believe that this rumor was actually true. Unfortunately, NBC quickly shot down the rumors.
The show’s co-creator, Marta Kaufman, also put her two cents in, saying, “I’m going to clear this up — it’s not happening… “Friends” was about that time in your life when your friends are your family and once you have a family, there’s no need anymore.”
Aubrey Plaza Ejected From MTV Movie Awards
“Parks and Recreation” actress, Aubrey Plaza, learned the hard way that you should never try to steal an award from Will Ferrell.
At Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards, the actress was seated in the front row when funny-man Will Ferrell was accepting the Comedic Genius award. Looking very awkward, a little tipsy, and with a drink in hand, Plaza rushed to the stage and spent about 30 seconds onstage trying to take the award out of Will Ferrell’s hands. She failed, of course, and quickly walked back to her seat and threw her drink on the ground. After she sat down, Will addressed Aubrey, saying, “Aubrey Plaza, everyone. Just like we rehearsed it…Not too long, not too short. Right on the money.”
However, it was actually not rehearsed according to MTV. Shortly after Aubrey’s improvised moment, she was asked to leave the show. Aubrey Plaza should probably think twice from now on before deciding to pull a Kanye (or a Lil Mama).
