Cool weather and sunshine streamed down on thousands of country music fans during the first day of Bayou Country Superfest.
Country music’s biggest stars took the stage inside Tiger Stadium in front of listeners from around the world.
Miranda Lambert, the fourth act of the night, played most of her classics, “Heart Like Mine,” “White Liar,” and “Gunpowder and Lead,” to name a few.
But she mixed in a few surprises like a great cover of The Beatle’s “Get Back” and a surprising incident with a beach ball.
Lambert grabbed a ball that landed on stage, whipped out a knife, popped the ball and threw it back into the crowd all while singing “Mama’s Broken Heart.”
“You came here to listen to music, not play with your balls, right?” she said to the crowd.
Though Lambert’s act was energetic, it had nothing on the night’s final performance: Lady Antebellum.
For almost an hour and a half, Lady A. rocked Tiger Stadium to its foundation. The trio of Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood.
Their act had almost everything — originals, covers, audience interaction, cellphone lights and a slightly-too-long encore.
The second day of the festival includes such acts as Frankie Ballard, Rodney Atkins, The Band Perry, Luke Bryan and Zac Brown Band.
