LSU sophomore pitcher Cody Glenn will be held out of regional competition this weekend after violating team rules, according to a news release.
“Cody will not be on the active roster for the regional this weekend,” Mainieri said in a statement. “Should we advance to the next round of the NCAA tournament, Cody’s status will be evaluated next week and a determination will be made concerning his return to the active roster.
Glenn was the presumed starter for the third game of the weekend after junior right-hander Ryan Eades was named the starter for tomorrow’s contest against Jackson State.
Freshman Hunter Newman is in line to receive the start in Glenn’s absence. Newman received the start in the semi-final of the Southeastern Conference tournament and had a strong outing against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
The Tigers will take on Jackson State tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the first game of regional competition.
