Whether they’re walking down the street, the runway, or the red carpet, the “farmer-chic look”, as I like to call it, has become a top trend among Hollywood fashionistas. While it may seem odd, anyone can pull off a pair of overalls with just a few other pieces that take the outfit from being worn at a farm to being worn at fashion week.
Casual:
For a more casual look, simply throw on the overalls with a tank top underneath. Depending on how much skin you want to show, you can also pair it with a crop top. Since this is a lazy-day style, the more loose the outfit is, the better! This look is all about comfort and convenience.
Finish off the look by taking a page from model Heidi Klum’s book by rocking your favorite sneakers as well.
Chic:
To spice the look up a bit, try to find material other than denim. In this runway look from designer Phillip Lim’s Resort 2013 Collection, the overalls are made of leather.
Unlike the casual look, it’s best to go with overalls that are tighter around the ankles, similar to skinny jeans. For longer and more loose-fitting styles, simply roll up the overalls once or twice at the ankle to tighten it up. Underneath the overalls all you need is a light blouse (Tip: Collared tops are a fashionista favorite). Lastly, heels are a must to completely pull this look off. Try booties or wedged heels to keep the outfit looking hot!
