In preparation for this weekend’s Grammy Awards, here are the biggest music stories of the week:
Beyoncé Announces 2013 World Tour
It’s only February, yet Beyoncé has already claimed 2013 as her own. After performing at two of the biggest events of the year so far, the 57th Presidential Inauguration and Super Bowl XLVII, Beyoncé has announced that she’ll now be bringing the show to her fans. Her 2013 tour, dubbed “The Mrs.Carter Show: World Tour”, is set to have both European and North American legs.
The official press release for the tour states that the tour promises, “…to be the entertainer’s most ambitious undertaking to date. It is expected to be bigger in scope than any of her previous shows.”
Although special pre-sales have started this week, the public sale for tickets to Beyoncé’s shows start on Monday, February 11th. Check out www.Beyonce.com/tour for more information on the tour dates.
Rihanna Supports Chris Brown In Court
Just when you think Chris Brown and Rihanna can’t get any more unpredictable, they push the envelope just a tad more.
Rihanna was spotted in court with Brown this Wednesday during a probation violation hearing. In case you forgot, Chris Brown is on probation for punching Rihanna and leaving her bloody and bruised before the Grammy awards four years ago.
Prosecutors are accusing Chris Brown of not completing the 1400 hours of community service that was ordered by a judge after Brown plead guilty to the felony assault charge in 2009. If the prosecutors succeed, Brown may have to redo all of the required hours.
Despite the irony, Rihanna sat through the hearing to support Brown. There is speculation that the couple may arrive together, and possibly perform a duet, at this Sunday’s Grammy awards.
Grammy Awards 2013 Dress Code
CBS, the network that will telecast the Grammys, has issued a dress code to all performers, presenters, and nominees of this year’s show. The Grammy Awards are known for celebrating the best in music, but the red carpet and performances usually feature some of the most risqué pieces of fashion of all award show season. It will be interesting to see how fashion risk-takers like Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Nicki Minaj take to this “Wardrobe Advisory.”
Here is just a bit of the interesting (and comical) email from CBS, uncovered by deadline.com:
“Please be sure that buttocks and female breasts are adequately covered. Thong type costumes are problematic. Please avoid exposing bare fleshy under curves of the buttocks and buttock crack. Bare sides or under curvature of the breasts is also problematic. Please avoid sheer see-through clothing that could possibly expose female breast nipples. Please be sure the genital region is adequately covered so that there is no visible ‘puffy’ bare skin exposure.”
The Grammys air live on CBS on Sunday, February 10th at 8pm/7c.
