Once again, 2013 seems to be the year of the comeback.
The Postal Service dropped their first new song in more than a decade this week, the upbeat, dancy “A Tattered Line of String.”
“String” brings more growl and guitar than The Postal Service’s typical fare, but it’s just as heavy on the electronica as ever, reminding the world how much some of today’s thriving electropop and indietronica outfits may owe to what The Postal Service was doing back in 2003.
Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley also provides some sweet vocals on the track, but even with some fresh elements, there’s not really any of the magic of “Such Great Heights” or “We Will Become Silhouettes.”
Though a solid effort from a band well-loved and remembered by so many, nothing about “String” is particularly remarkable.
