If students want to see changes to the University’s Tiger Trails bus system, all they have to do is ask.
A student survey regarding the Office of Parking, Traffic and Transportation’s recent bus evaluation will tentatively be sent out to all students early next week, said Director of the Office of Parking, Traffic and Transportation, Gary Graham.
Graham said the results of the bus evaluation and the changes to be made are going to be heavily weighted on the survey response.
Graham said the survey will allow students to let their opinions be known.
“It is just like elections,” Graham said. “If you don’t vote, you can’t be heard.”
Students will receive two reminders to complete the survey during the two weeks it will be open, Graham said.
The survey will take about 12 minutes to complete and will have questions regarding how much service students want, when, where and what times, and how much are students willing to pay for it, said Mitch Skyer, president of Solstice Transportation Group, who is conducting the evaluation.
Full-time students currently pay a $66 fee for the transportation services, but expanding some services under the next contract could affect the student fee.
On the heals of the bus evaluation came a Student Government initiative to start a night route that runs to Ben Hur Thursday through Saturday from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m.
The route will go through a two to three week trail period to evaluate the demand before possibly becoming permanent, Graham said.
