Student faked armed robbery for attention
LSU Police Department investigated an attempted armed robbery at the Design Building last week and found out it was a story concocted by the supposed victim.
Daniel Finkenaur, 21-year-old biological engineering student, was arrested after admitting he made up the story of being robbed due to “a conflict in a personal relationship,” said LSUPD Spokesman Cpt. Cory Lalonde.
Finkenaur told LSUPD he fought off a robber Feb. 3 and sustained a cut, but later admitted he received the cut at work, Lalonde said.
Finkenaur was issued a misdemeanor for criminal mischief Feb. 6, Lalonde said.
Two men arrested for heroin, outstanding warrants, broken brake light
LSUPD pulled over Evan Glen Schittone, 22, of 16616 Lily Valley, Baton Rouge, and Derek Wayne Henson, 23, of 17718 Planchet Road, Greenwell Springs, for a brake light malfunction and found heroin and marijuana in the car, Lalonde said.
After identifying the men, LSUPD found both had outstanding warrants: Schittone for a hit and run and Henson for failure to appear in court, Lalonde said.
Schittone was arrested for possession of marijuana, heroin and drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant, and Henson was arrested for the warrant and a broken brake light, Lalonde said.
Both men were booked in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, Lalonde said.
Student arrested for stealing a credit card number
John Aucoin, 21-year-old interdisciplinary studies student, was arrested after spending $50 with someone else’s credit card number, Lalonde said.
The victim came to LSUPD after a charge appeared on her account, and, after investigation, Aucoin admitted to taking the number and spending the money, Lalonde said.
Aucoin knew the victim, according to Lalonde, and was issued a misdemeanor for access device fraud.
Student arrested for battery in Student Union
Desiree Madison, 18-year-old computer engineering student, was arrested after getting in a fight in the Student Union, Lalonde said.
LSUPD arrived after getting a call for a disturbance in the Union and questioned both the victim and Madison. They determined Madison instigated the fight and the victim fought in self-defense, Lalonde said.
Madison was booked in EBR Parish Prison for simple battery, and neither sustained visible injuries, Lalonde said.
