It was an exciting evening in New Orleans Saturday and the Civic Theatre was definitely the place to be. The Ready Set performed at the Civic Theatre, with opening act Cameron Richard, to raise money for Ochsner Pediatrics. They had a great turn out, making the night a success.
Cameron Richard opened the show playing not only covers but an original song. A couple of the songs he covered included “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis and “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac. His original song, “Best Day”, was upbeat and catchy and his stage movement got the audience engaged. He ended his set with the crowd pleasing “House of the Rising Sun” by The Animals. After his set, fans and friends rushed up asking for pictures and autographs. Even at his young age, he has a voice perfect for revamped blues covers.
The Ready Set kept up the pace opening with their single “Young Forever”. The girls were screaming loudly throughout the whole set for lead singer Jordan Witzigreuter. He used the whole stage when singing, keeping up the energy, and gave a great vocal performance. He also gave the audience a treat by playing his new single “Freaking Me Out”. The song will be featured on his new album coming out this fall. Jordan has different friends come on tour with him to play instruments along with the electronic track. The drums and guitar over the electronic background music was a nice way to showcase Jordan’s lyrics and performance. To close the night, The Ready Set performed two of their hits “Love Like Woe” and “Give Me Your Hand [Best Song Ever]” which got the audience jumping, dancing and excited. He also gave the fans a chance to meet him after the show.
The best thing about The Ready Set is even if you didn’t know the tunes, you could still have a great time. Jordan’s voice is true and tells the stories in his lyrics with so much enthusiasm. He interacts with the audience and makes the night special for everyone who watches. The Ready Set’s sound is pop with an edge which sets them apart from other Top 40 bands.
