The LSU volleyball team’s freshman middle blocker Briana Holman was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday for her dominating play against Georgia and Kentucky last week.
The DeSoto, Texas, native recorded 17 kills and seven blocks in the Tigers’ five-set victory against Georgia on Friday. Five of those kills came on seven errorless swings in the fifth set on top of two blocks.
Holman’s performance wasn’t enough to propel LSU to a victory against Kentucky, but the freshman still managed to post a career-high 20 kills and a .421 hitting clip in the loss.
In her inaugural season with the Tigers, Holman leads the team with 293 kills and 1.51 blocks per set. She also leads the team with a .336 hitting clip among players with more than 100 attempts on the season.
