LSU defeated Arkansas 31-27, sealed by junior Jermauria Rasco’s fumble recovery at the Tigers 26 yard line with 37 seconds remaining in the game.
The last-minute fumble by Razorback quarterback Brandon Allen ended Friday afternoon’s contest that included six lead changes and three ties.
LSU took the lead 31-27 with a little over a minute remaining in the game when freshman quarterback Anthony Jennings threw a 49-yard touchdown to wide receiver Travin Dural, finishing a drive that started at the Tigers 1-yard line.
Jennings entered the game after senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger was hit hard on a 32-yard passing play to junior Jarvis Landry which eventually set up a 37-yard Colby Delahoussaye field goal and pulled LSU within 3 points with five minutes to play.
After LSU committed an offsides penalty on an Arkansas fourth and three fake punt midway through the third quarter, the Razorbacks extended their 15 play, 75-yard drive which ended in Hunter Henry’s second touchdown reception and a 27-21 lead going into the fourth.
Sophomore running back Jeremy Hill’s 52-yard touchdown gave LSU a 21-20 lead midway through the third quarter. Hill finished with 146 yards rushing and a touchdown.
Shortly after becoming the third player in LSU history to throw for 3,000 yards in a single season in the opening minutes of the second half, Mettenberger threw an interception to Arkansas’ Alan Turner which set up a 28-yard field goal from Zach Hocker and a 20-14 Razorback lead.
