Let’s get right to the news.
1. Next Gen has arrived
It’s been a long time coming, but the entire next generation of consoles is finally here, with Nintendo’s Wii U, Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One (releasing Friday). Though I did a special buyers guide for the PS4, our own entertainment writer Rob Kitchen compiled a nice comparison between it and the Xbox One (flip to the entertainment section to see the info graphic).
Early reviews for both consoles aren’t overly positive, just optimistic. Such new technology takes a while to grab consumer attention, and game developers usually need a year or two to unlock the system’s full potential.
That being said, I don’t know how the Xbox One can get better than playing itself.
2. Android Kit Kat sees larger rollout
I’m not going to lie to you, I hate Android right now. The OS on my Nexus 7 (which has a quad-core processor mind you) is consistently laggy and crashes at least once a day. Not to mention the battery barely lasts four hours and has to be charged all day it gets too low.
So I was excited when, last week, Google announced that the lighter and more efficient Kit Kat would be rolling out to Nexus devices soon. Theoretically, it should fix the problems my tablet has encountered with 4.3 Jelly Bean.
Except that each new update to Android takes forever to get to any device. I’ve been mashing “check for new update” every day for almost a week and a half now, and nothing.
What is it about Android that makes updates such an excruciatingly difficult process? Why can millions of iPhones update to iOS 7 in a single day, but it takes months and months for Android updates to trickle out?
Hopefully, Android users everywhere will get the update soon.

That’s it for this week’s Tech with Taylor! There most likely won’t be an update next week due to Thanksgiving, but I’ll make sure to update you on any breaking news that happens during the week.
