LSU senior running back Alfred Blue and senior fullback Connor Neighbors were granted a fifth year of eligibility, after receiving medical redshirts. LSU assistant sports information director Bill Martin confirmed the fifth year for both players to The Daily Reveille in a text message.
Blue was forced to miss most of last season following a knee injury suffered in the game against Idaho on Sept. 15. Blue has served as a backup to sophomore running back Jeremy Hill, averaging nearly five yards per carry on 49 attempts.
Neighbors received the medical redshirt from his freshman season, where the Alabama native only participated in one game before missing the rest of the season due to injury.
With senior fullback J.C. Copeland set to leave the school after this season, Neighbors will be the most experience fullback on the roster going into the 2014-15 season.
