Johnny Jones picked up a fourth member of his 2014 signing class Wednesday night, as LSU spokesman Kent Lowe confirmed the Tigers signed point guard Josh Gray of Odessa Junior College.
Gray, a former Florida State commit, decommitted from the Seminoles in October, opening the door for the Tigers. The 6-foot-1 Lake Charles native picked the Tigers over UNLV, Marquette, Missouri and Texas A&M.
Gray began his college career at Texas Tech, where he averaged 9.3 points per game as a freshman — but transferred after head coach Billy Gillispie’s abrupt resignation in September of 2012.
In only eight games this season at Odessa, Gray is averaging 34.6 points per game, including a 61-point, six-rebound performance in a Nov. 15 win against Ranger Junior College.
Gray joins three signees in Jones’ 2014 class: forward Aaron Epps, guard Jalyn Patterson and center Elbert Robinson III.
