LSU senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger leads the Tigers on offense, going 6 of 9 for 106 yards against the top ranked defense in the Southeastern Conference. Sophomore Running back Jeremy Hill leads the Tigers in rushing, gaining 56 yards on 11 carries.
Senior fullback J.C. Copeland got LSU on the board with a one-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter. It was Copeland’s third touchdown of the season and the seventh of his career.
LSU quarterback Anthony Jennings added to the Tigers lead with a one yard touchdown with 5:14 to go in the second quarter. It was the first touchdown of Jennings’s career at LSU.
Florida scored a field goal on their first drive of the game, going up on a 44 yard field goal by Francisco Valdez. The drive ate up nearly half of the first quarter, lasting 7:27 and 14 plays.
Florida quarterback Tyler Murphy struggled in the first half, going 4 for 9 with only 42 passing yards.
The LSU defense limited Florida’s ability to make the big play, allowing only one play of over 10 yards.
