LSU freshman forward Summer Clarke and freshman midfielder Emma Fletcher continued their impressive 2013 campaigns by earning weekly Southeastern Conference honors for their performances this weekend.
Clarke claimed SEC Offensive Player of the Week by scoring five goals in two matches to help the Tigers (8-3-2, 4-0-1 SEC) maintain their position at the top of the conference. Clarke notched her first career hat trick in LSU’s 5-3 win at Arkansas, and she tacked on two goals Sunday to propel the Tigers to a 2-1, double-overtime win at Alabama.
Fletcher grabbed her second-straight SEC Freshman of the Week title for her four assists over the weekend. She tied an LSU single-game record for assists against Arkansas, making the final pass on all three of Clarke’s goals. Fletcher capped her weekend performance by providing the assist on Clarke’s game-winning goal against Alabama.
Clarke and Fletcher lead the Tigers with eight goals and 10 assists, respectively. Fletcher leads the SEC in assists, and she has already set the LSU record for assists by a freshman in a single season.
