The Advocate in Baton Rouge reported Thursday afternoon that LSU baseball signee Dylan Williams, 18, was arrested in Rydal, Ga. on Tuesday.
Authorities booked Williams “on counts of possession with intent to distribute Schedule 1 drugs, trafficking Ecstasy, and possession of a firearm during Georgia controlled substance felony,” according to The Advocate and the Bartow County sheriff’s jail media report.
LSU coach Paul Mainieri said that he intends to let the situation play out, as The Advocate reported he was informed of the incident Wednesday.
Williams, who is a right-handed pitcher and Rawlings 2013 All-American, was the strikeout leader in State 4A in 2013 while at Cass High School.
“Dylan is a power arm right-hander from Cass High School in Georgia,” Mainieri said on Williams’ LSU sports bio. “At 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds., Dylan has the size and arm strength to emerge as a top of the rotation guy for us throughout his career. Anytime you have a big, young, right-hander coming in and touching 92 mph on the radar gun, you have to feel good about the possibility of him becoming a force.”
