Amanda Bynes Placed Under Psychiatric Hold
Amanda Bynes was taken in for a mental health evaluation on Monday evening after setting fire to a random elderly woman’s driveway in Los Angeles, according to TMZ.
Local residents who witnessed the fire realized that something wasn’t right and police were called to the scene.
Although there were no reported injuries, Bynes’ pants were reportedly charred and she was holding a “little red gas tank.” Also, the star’s pet dog was found covered in gasoline.
After being questioned by police who believed Bynes was a threat to herself and others, she was placed under a 5150 psychiatric hold. The hold calls for involuntary hospitalization for mental evaluation for up to 72 hours.
However, after preliminary evaluations, medical professionals have decided to hold Bynes for an additional two weeks after the star has exhibited signs of schizophrenia.
Bynes’ parents are reportedly looking into seeking a conservatorship over their daughter which would give them control over her personal and financial decisions.
