For many teams, it isn’t the way a locker room responds after a win that determines its character, but the way it reacts following a loss.
The LSU football team has the unfortunate task of finding that answer this week as they play their first game since losing 44-41 to Georgia on Saturday.
“[The team’s attitude] is pretty much like it was after the game,” senior wide receiver Kadron Boone said. “We understand this didn’t make or break us. We understand we have to get better at some things, we understand we didn’t perform well as a team. We just have to get back out there and get better as a team.”
Sophomore cornerback Jalen Mills said Mississippi State is all that’s on LSU’s mind at the moment as Georgia is in the past
“We are going to make our corrections whatever they may be,” Mills said. “This is a game in the past. We have to move forward. We have Mississippi State and we’re going to go out and try to win this game.”
Porter says Georgia was a learning experience
Junior center Elliott Porter said Monday that LSU’s performance against Georgia was a learning experience, but not everything was bad. In fact, Porter graded the offensive line’s performance in the B minus to B plus range.
The offensive line allowed four sacks on Saturday, the most of any game this season.
“Were going to get better from it,” Porter said. “We still did pretty well. We put up 40 points and that’s not bad at all. We still need to get better, don’t get me wrong. Getting better is the key to this week and this season. We will get better and we will learn to pick lanes up. I can promise that.”
Mississippi State doesn’t have the defensive line presence Georgia has, however, recording five sacks through four games compared to Georgia’s nine.
Delahoussaye not thinking about scholarship possibility after big game
Walk-on freshman kicker Colby Delahoussaye said the idea of earning a scholarship hasn’t crossed his mind after putting a 49-yard and a 39-yard attempt through the uprights against Georgia.
“It feels good to finally get something with a little more range on it,” Delahoussaye said. “I would rather our team score touchdowns, but it does feel good to get those long ones in.”
