Inclement weather didn’t stop the Tigers from taking on Auburn in Tiger Stadium on Saturday, but it did halt a home coaching debut down the road.
Saturday’s downpours canceled the LSU Invitational at Highland Road Park, which was set to be the Baton Rouge debut of new cross country coach Khadevis Robinson.
LSU announced the meet would not be rescheduled or made up.
Robinson’s Tigers were fresh off an eighth place finish at the 26-team Mountain Dew Invitational in Tampa Bay, where junior Philip Primeaux paced the team with a 35th place finish in the 8k race. Junior William Wiesler and sophomore Travis Pope weren’t far behind, finishing in 55th and 60th place, respectively.
The Lady Tigers were hoping to improve on a tenth place finish in Tampa Bay, where they were led by junior Andria Aguilar, who finished the highest of any LSU runner in 20th place.
Freshman Jenna Walker made a splash in her debut as she finished behind Aguilar in 71st place, good enough for the second highest finish by a Lady Tiger.
Now with an unintended extra week of rest, both the Tigers and Lady Tigers will prepare for the McNeese Cowboy Stampede, to be held in Lake Charles on September 28.
