After 110 minutes of physical soccer Friday night, the scoreboard at the LSU Soccer Stadium showed a 0-0 overtime draw between TCU and No. 25 LSU.
The Tigers (2-0-1) controlled possession for the majority of the match but failed to convert on ample scoring opportunities in the attacking third. LSU’s best chance to score came in the final minute of the second overtime period when a short kick from junior Jodi Calloway bounced off the inside of the left post.
“Sometimes that’s just soccer,” said LSU coach Brian Lee. “I thought we played really well and moved the ball fairly well. We were just missing the final pass and maybe pulling them out when a few more times, we could’ve gone wide. Certainly at this stage of the season, it’s a performance we’re pleased with.”
Friday night’s tie with TCU (1-1-1) comes just three days after the Tigers dismantled UL-Monroe 6-0. Though LSU failed to put the finishing touch on its attacks, Lee expressed his satisfaction with his team’s continued ability to create goal-scoring opportunities.
LSU returns to the LSU Soccer Stadium pitch on Monday night, hosting No. 6 BYU at 7 p.m.
