JT’s back, ALL RIGHT. (Backstreet Boys reference for ‘N Sync member — got ’em.)
Justin Timberlake released “Suit & Tie” late Sunday night on his website, his first new solo work since 2006’s out-of-nowhere fantastic “FutureSex/LoveSounds.”
The track, with an unsurprising Timbaland production credit, starts off smooth but quickly turns funky, with Timberlake’s pitch-perfect falsetto complementing a dancy beat. It isn’t hard to miss the R. Kelley vibe, but Timberlake’s suave and a much-rumored guest verse from Jay-Z make the song a new standout in JT’s extensive catalog.
We can only hope the singer’s newlywed status with the beautiful Jessica Biel will provide plenty of inspiration for more tracks tinged with Timberlake’s signature smooth style.
Timberlake also announced a new album slated for this year, “The 20/20 Experience.”
If “Suit & Tie” is any indication, 2013 could be JT’s year.
