James Gandolfini Dies at 51
“The Sopranos” star James Gandolfini passed away on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack.
The actor died in while in Italy where he was attending the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily. The trip was also supposed to be a special father-son trip for Gandolfini and his son, Michael, who just graduated from 8th grade.
HBO, the network that launched “The Sopranos,” one of the most iconic shows of the last decade, released a statement in remembrance of the actor. “We’re all in shock and feeling immeasurable sadness at the loss of a beloved member of our family,” said the statement. “He was a special man, a great talent, but more importantly, a gentle and loving person who treated everyone, no matter their title or position, with equal respect. He touched so many of us over the years with his humor, his warmth and his humility. Our hearts go out to his wife and children during this terrible time. He will be deeply missed by all of us.”
The actor was 51-years-old and will be survived by his two children, Michael, 13, and Liliana, 8 months.
Kim Kardashian Gives Birth
Kim Kardashian gave birth to her first child with rapper, Kanye West, last Saturday.
Although Kim and Kanye haven’t officially released a name, TMZ says they have gotten ahold of the birth certificate from Ceders-Sinai Hospital and are reporting that the baby’s name is “North West.”
The couple has been dating for a little over a year now, but hasn’t tied the knot yet because Kim was legally married to NBA player, Kris Humphries, until just two weeks ago!
This has been quite a week for Kanye who became a father and released his sixth studio album, “Yeezus,” in the same week.
Jay-Z Announces New Album
Moving right along from ‘Ye to Jay.
Jay-Z announced, via an elaborate Samsung Galaxy ad, that he is releasing a new album this summer.
“Magna Carta, Holy Grail,” will be released on July 7th, but one million fans will be able to get the album three days early.
The full album will be free to the first one million Samsung Galaxy S III, Galaxy S4, and Galaxy Note II users who download the customized mobile app on June 24th.
Jay-Z’s mantra in relation to this album is “we need to write the new rules” which is exactly what he’s doing. Through this PR partnership with Samsung, the album will go platinum before it even hits its official release date.
Lucky Samsung users will be able to unlock the album via the app on July 4th at 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time.
