Mumford and Sons Cancel Bonnaroo Appearance and Remaining Tour Dates
Folk band, Mumford and Sons, have cancelled their headlining appearance at Bonnaroo, as well as the Telluride Festival, and the remaining dates on their Summer Stampede Tour.
The sudden cancellations come on the heels of a health emergency within the band. Ted Dwane, Mumford and Sons bassist, had to undergo emergency surgery earlier this week after doctors found a blood clot on the surface of his brain. The surgery was a success and Dwane was discharged from the hospital on Thursday.
The band took to their Facebook page to share the news, saying, “”It is with great joy that we can announce that Ted has been discharged from hospital and is on the road to a full recovery. The surgery went well, and the excellent medical team helping him are very pleased with his progress.”
They went on to explain why they would be cancelling the rest of the tour. “We trust that you can respect our collective desire to encourage Ted to make a full recovery, and that this is based purely on the medical advice we have received.”
To fans who have bought tickets to upcoming shows: don’t worry! The cancelled dates will be rescheduled and the tickets you already bought can be used at the makeup concert.
Kanye West Takes Back Apology to Taylor Swift
In a very revealing interview with the New York Times this week, Kanye West opened up about everything from his fashion choices, his girlfriend (reality star Kim Kardashian), and his upcoming album titled “Yeezus.”
One of the stand-out remarks that West made was about his infamous onstage disaster involving Taylor Swift. At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, the rapper interrupted Swift during an acceptance speech to tell the world that Beyoncé was the one that actually deserved to win the award, not Swift. The rapper received so much backlash from the incident that he publicly apologized and took almost a year off from being in the public eye.
When asked if the Taylor Swift incident led him astray, West responded with an answer that could only come out of the mouth of Kanye West: “It’s only led me to complete awesomeness at all times. It’s only led me to awesome truth and awesomeness. Beauty, truth, awesomeness. That’s all it is.”
Whatever that means.
West went on to admit that he only apologized because he fell into “peer pressure.”
The lengthy interview is part of Kanye’s press tour for his upcoming album, “Yeezus,” which hits stores on June 18th.
2 Chainz Arrested For Drug Possession
Rapper, 2 Chainz, was arrested this week at the Los Angeles International Airport for drug possession.
Airport police allegedly found that the rapper was carrying marijuana and a bottle of antihistamine laced with codeine, according to E! News. The drugs were allegedly in his checked baggage and the rapper had already boarded the plane when authorities were called to investigate his bag under the suspicion that narcotics had been packed.
The rapper was then taken off the flight and immediately arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
This week has just been 2 bad for the rapper. The arrest came just days after he was robbed at gunpoint by two men while walking around San Francisco with his entourage. After shooting the gun in the air, the men reportedly made off with 2 Chainz’s wallet and cell phone.
