UPDATE 12/4/2013 12:05
LSU senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger will miss the Tigers’ bowl game after suffering a season-ending knee injury against Arkansas, the school confirmed on Wednesday.
LSU did not release the extent of the injury, per LSU coach Les Miles’ policy, but it is believed to be a torn ACL.
“We are very disappointed for Zach,” Miles said in a news release. “He’s been a tremendous leader for our team and he’s as a competitive a guy as I have ever been around. He’s had a great impact on our program.
“I know Zach will work extremely hard to rehabilitate his knee and I don’t anticipate this injury having any impact on what should be a great future in the NFL.”

According to an ESPN report late Tuesday, LSU senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger has a torn ACL and will not play in the Tigers’ bowl game.
LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette tweeted Tuesday that the school is aware of the report, but cannot confirm or deny it.
He later tweeted the school would release an update on Mettenberger’s injury Wednesday.
Mettenberger was injured late in the fourth quarter of Friday’s 31-27 win against Arkansas. He was seen after the game on crutches with an ice pack on his knee.
The Watkinsville, Ga. native has 22 touchdown passes and season passer rating of 171.4 and became only the third Tiger quarterback to surpass 3,000 passing yards when he reached the milestone against the Razorbacks.
