LSU football fans will have the opportunity to own a piece of college sports history with a University-held fundraiser that will auction off lockers from Tiger Stadium.
LSU will auction old football lockers from the Jeff Boss Locker Room in Tiger Stadium, which is currently under renovation, said LSU Sports Information Director Michael Bonnette in an online release.
The University plans to auction nearly 100 lockers for the price of $3,950 each. The lockers bought at this price will be shipped in their current condition. But for $230 more, buyers can have the locker completely refurbished back to its original condition when they were previously installed back in 1996, Bonnette said.
D’Kota Tribble, business freshman, said the fundraiser is an interesting attempt to raise money on LSU’s part.
“I think this is a unique money-raising technique and the option to refurbish the lockers is a great deal.” Tribble said.
Buyers will also receive with their lockers a dated copy of the design layout from the original 1996 renovations, Bonnette said.
Each locker received a serialized number prior to removal, allowing buyers to locate their purchased locker on the original design plan. These serialized numbers certify the lockers as genuine collectible memorabilia, Bonnette said.
