The University will officially retire the lsusecure wireless network May 17, 2014, and eduroam will become LSU’s only secure wireless option, according to an email from the Department of Residential Life Monday morning.
Residential Life said in its email that using eduroam means students can access their Wi-Fi network at other national colleges like Texas A&M, or international universities like the University of London.
Sheri Thompson, IT communications and planning officer, told the Daily Reveille they expect mild issues during the initial transfer period because users will need to add “@lsu.edu” to their usernames.
Thompson said this addition is similar to what students must input now to access their University email accounts.
Other than this requirement, the eduroam access process will be the same as that of lsusecure.
