LSU senior defensive tackle Jordan Allen is seeking a transfer from the program, according to recent reports.
Wednesday afternoon TigerRag.com reported that Allen plans to transfer and has been cleared to speak with any team not in the Southeastern Conference or on LSU’s out-of-conference schedule this season.
Allen told TigerRag.com that he’s already contacted a coach at University of Louisiana-Lafayette.
“I’m free to talk with whoever I want who is not in the SEC and is not [on LSU’s out-of-conference schedule],” Allen said to TigerRag.com. “That’s whatever, that’s OK. That’s pretty much where I’m at right now. Now I’m able to talk to some of them.
“I’ve communicated with a coach over at [Louisiana-Lafayette]just to hear what they had to say, because they found out and wanted to talk to me as soon as they could. … That’s not my only option, but it’s my first one.”
Associate Athletic Director Michael Bonnette could not immediately be reached for comment.
Allen is a fifth-year senior and was expected to compete for playing time with junior Danielle Hunter this season.
Allen is not officially released from his scholarship and would need to enroll in grad school in order to see the field immediately. He’s a sports administration major at LSU.
The former West Monroe High School product recorded 16 tackles and a pair of sacks last season.
