Students have been spotting a seemingly never-ending series of infinity sign graffiti around campus, with no explanation as to what the recurring symbols could mean.
LSU Police Department spokesman Capt. Cory Lalonde said two reports came in Tuesday morning detailing graffiti at the Student Union and Barnes and Noble bookstore, where infinity signs were found accompanied by the letter “B.”
Similar incidences of graffiti can be found around campus in the Quad and in front of Prescott Hall.
The word “bound” is spray-painted alongside some occurrences of the graffiti.
Dasia Riley, conservation biology freshman, thinks students eager to display their University pride drew the signs.
“Someone really likes LSU so they feel like they’re going to be bound here forever,” Riley said.
Michael Budetti, agricultural business sophomore, believes the signs have a more philosophic message.
“We’re just bound by the cycle of life, trapped in the system,” Budetti said.
April Ahmed, French and English freshman, said she thought the signs were too poorly drawn to be done by a serious organization.
“I guess when you’re vandalizing school property you have to move quickly,” Ahmed said.
Lalonde said LSUPD hopes to discover the meaning behind the infinity signs, but emphasized their first priority would be to catch the mysterious graffiti artists.
