The College of Engineering announced a $1 million donation from Entergy Louisiana last Tuesday, according to a news release from the College of Engineering. The state will match the donation, which is slated to go toward the renovation and expansion of the College of Engineering’s facilities.
Entergy had previously donated $300,000 toward equipment for a new lab, continuing the march of private donations to the College of Engineering.
The donation will specifically go toward the construction of a new classroom complex and research laboratory focused on energy management. Dean Richard Koubek said in the release the lab is the first of its kind in Louisiana and will prepare graduates “to address the energy challenges of the future.”
The expansion and renovation of Patrick F. Taylor Hall and other engineering buildings is expected to eliminate millions of dollars from the deferred maintenance backlog in repairs like HVAC systems, according to projections from the Board of Supervisors.
