After a three-game losing skid, the LSU men’s tennis team dominated Tulane en-route to a 4-0 victory Wednesday.
The Tigers were coming off defeats to three ranked teams, all of which were in the Southeastern Conference. During the skid, the Tigers were only able to win one out of a possible 12 points.
Sophomore Andrew Korinek was the only LSU player to earn a point, beating Brandon Fickey on court three.
Prior to the match, Tulane honored the lone senior on the squad, Takuma Ohashi, for his contributions to the team throughout his four years in the program.
From the beginning, the match was in total control for the Tigers. They swept the doubles point, winning all three matches after a decision was made to continue through the third match.
The Green Wave struggled in the singles matches as well, getting swept via straight set victories, including another match-clincher from freshman Justin Butsch.
The win marks Butsch’s fourth of the year, further cementing his role as the team’s closer.
Butsch has since moved up to the No. 2 court for the Tigers, as his play has improved greatly throughout the season.
With the win Wednesday, the Tigers move up to 12-12 on the year with one match remaining against Arkansas Saturday in Fayetteville in hopes of ending the season with a winning record.
