Junior forward Johnny O’Bryant was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, while freshman forward Jordan Mickey nabbed SEC Freshman of the Week honors, announced by the conference Monday morning.
O’Bryant keyed the Tigers’ upset of No. 11 Kentucky on Tuesday, as he scored a game high 29 points, grabbed eight boards and blocked two shots. Mickey contributed 14 points and six blocks against the Wildcats.
Mickey recorded his sixth double-double of the season four days later in an 88-74 victory against Arkansas, scoring 22 points, pulling down 11 rebounds and blocking six shots.
O’Bryant scored 23 points against the Razorbacks, raising his five game average to 21.6 points per game. LSU has a 4-1 record in those five games.
