Grade: C-
For a video game to be great, it needs to be a perfect storm of many different elements. The gameplay needs to be smooth and dynamic, the storyline has to be interesting and the graphics have to be up to par. It’s hard to condemn “Thief,” as it does not necessarily fail in any of these aspects, but its impossible to praise “Thief” in any of these. The graphics in this game were particularly underwhelming, especially when played on the PS4, which is supposed to have the greatest possible graphics. It looked more like an early PS3 game. The gameplay boils down to running to the next preset button combination over and over again. With the new console generation, games are supposed to be bringing something new to the table. “Thief” may have been passable two console generations ago, but instead made me feel robbed of a good experience.
