BATON ROUGE- LSU at Northgate and Fraternity Row were plunged into darkness last night as a blackout shut down power for close to an hour.
At 9:30 PM, electricity shut down, affecting residents, businesses, and traffic lights. Road headaches immediately began with confusion ruling the streets. Patrons of the Varsity Theatre were forced to leave the venue to congregate on the street in darkness.
On Fraternity Row, streets and sidewalks were plunged into virtual darkness with the headlamps of vehicle serving as the only source of light.
According to Entergy, close to 2,000 customers were without power during the blackout. Thankfully, at 10:25 PM, electricity was restored to some parts of town as bar patrons began their ritualistic drinking once again.
