Leila Marlene Wolfe, 22, the alleged victim of the attempted abduction near Patrick F. Taylor Hall Thursday, told the LSU Police Department Friday the incident was made up.
LSUPD spokesman Capt. Cory Lalonde said on Thursday evening Wolfe claimed the suspect, a black male with no facial hair, exited a parked black van and grabbed her arm. Wolfe said she was able to pull away from the suspect who ultimately climbed back into the van and fled the scene. The LSU community was notified of the incident by a text message sent through the LSU Emergency Text Messaging system.
However, many of the events Wolfe provided to investigators were unable be corroborated. Investigators spoke to Wolfe Friday to clarify some of the discrepancies, and she eventually admitted to them she had made the incident up, Lalonde said.
Wolf was arrested and charged with the misdemeanor of criminal mischief, Lalonde said, because Wolfe intentionally reported false information to LSUPD.
