University student issued summons for misdemeanor theft
On Feb. 7, LSUPD officers received a complaint from employees of the Smoothie King at the UREC, claiming they believed someone stole drinks from the cooler outside the store, Lalonde said.
LSUPD officers identified Patrick Ryan Clayton, 19, of 10935 Carissa Drive, Dallas, Texas, by reviewing UREC security footage, Lalonde said.
On Feb. 10 at 5:43 p.m., Clayton admitted to the crime after meeting with LSUPD officers.
Clayton was issued a misdemeanor summons for four counts of misdemeanor theft.
University student arrested and booked for payroll fraud
On Feb. 11 at 9:01 a.m., LSUPD officers were contacted by employees at the Digital Media Building who claimed one of its workers committed payroll fraud, Lalonde said.
Officers discovered that Cade Joseph Thomasson, 20, of 9436 Corsica Ave. submitted false payroll sheets to his supervisor with forged signatures of approval, collecting $969 of false income, Lalonde said.
Thomasson admitted to committing payroll fraud in a meeting with LSUPD investigators.
Thomasson was arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for payroll fraud and forgery.
Man suspected in six crimes on top of 28 previous burglary suspicions
On Feb. 5, LSU Police Department detectives identified Marcus Eugene Armstrong, 42, as a suspect in six crimes on top of 28 previous burglaries he is suspected to have committed on campus, LSUPD spokesman Cory Lalonde said.
LSUPD detectives connected Armstrong to four counts of burglary that occurred on campus at the University Lab School, Prescott Hall and Atkinson Hall.
Detectives also charged Armstrong for two counts of criminal possession after discovering a laptop computer and a PDA that were stolen from Tulane University in Armstrong’s residence at 8252 Governor St., Lalonde said.
Additionaly, Armstrong was charged with four counts of burglary and two counts of criminal possession.
