Paul Dietzel II is a 28-year-old Baton Rouge native and entrepreneur who is running for US Congress. He is advertising himself as a voice for the younger generation.
Dietzel is conservative Republican. He stated that it was his generation’s lack of voice along with Washington’s shortsighted policies that inspired him to run for office
“The bulk of my platform is focused on balancing the budget,” said Dietzel “on paying down the national debt, on the financial issues that are really going to cripple our generation, future generations, the students that are in college today that graduate and can’t find jobs.”
Dietzel organized on on-campus organization entitled “Students for Dietzel,” to help spread his message around campus.
“I support Paul specifically because he’s going for the younger generation,” said LSU Sophomore Benjamin Latham, a member of Students for Dietzel. “When I grow up I’m gonna have to be one of the people paying off the debt, and that’s specifically what he’s going for: helping the next generation out. “
If elected, Paul Dietzel would become the youngest sitting member of the United States Congress at the age of twenty-eight.
Dietzel II is an LSU graduate and is also the grandson of the head coach who led LSU’s football team to its first national championship in 1958, another Paul Dietzel.
