Man arrested for living in Patrick F. Taylor Hall receives felony charges
On Feb. 13 LSU Police Department investigators were dispatched to the LSU French House after employees claimed they discovered a bag belonging to Scott Edward Michelli, 43, the man previously arrested in 2013 for squatting in Patrick F. Taylor Hall, said LSUPD spokesman Capt. Cory La
The bag was hidden in a storage closet and contained multiple papers belonging to Michelli as well as a laptop computer that officers believed was stolen, Lalonde said.
LSUPD investigators identified the owner, who claimed the laptop was stolen in July of 2013 from Patrick F. Taylor Hall, Lalonde said.
Michelli, who is currently detained in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, received one additional count of felony theft on top of pre-existing charges.
Two University students arrested for filing false public records
In the past week, two University student workers for the Cox Communications building were arrested for attempted payroll fraud.
The students, Zachary Joseph Boudreaux, 20, and Jazmine Ariyan Wilson, 21, were both suspected by their supervisors of filing false public records, Lalonde said.
LSUPD investigators observed Cox building surveillance footage and discovered both Boudreaux and Wilson reported in to work at their designated times, signed in and then immediately left the building, Lalonde said.
Boudreaux and Wilson admitted to their actions on separate dates.
Investigators do not believe the two were working together, Lalonde said.
Boudreaux and Wilson were both arrested and booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for filing false public records.
Man issued a misdemeanor summons for a hit and run
On Feb. 8 at 2:26 p.m., LSUPD officers responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Nicholson Drive and Burbank Drive, LaLonde said.
Officers learned one of the drivers fled the scene after giving the other driver his first name and phone number only, Lalonde said.
Officers used this information to identify Joshua Thomas, 25, of 17253 Deer Lake Ave., as the suspected driver, Lalonde said.
On Feb. 12, Thomas admitted to the crime after being contacted by LSUPD investigators.
Thomas was issued a misdemeanor summons for hit and run.
