The LSU football team can now claim the No. 1 2015 recruiting class in the country, after 247sports.com released its updated standings on Wednesday.
Commitments from the country’s No. 1 fullback in Lakeshore high school fullback David Ducre and 4-star wide receiver Jazz Ferguson helped LSU jump two spots in the latest team rankings, usurping the spot previously held by Texas A&M.
The Tigers are currently tied with Mississippi State for the most commitments thus far at nine and are the only program in the nation with two 5-star recruits.
In the past few weeks, LSU also added commitments from Central High School 4-star safety Kevin Henry and Edna Karr High School defensive lineman Isaiah Washington who is the No. 23 weak side defensive end in the country.
The pair comes as the fourth and fifth in-state commitment for LSU coach Les Miles, a list that includes the No. 5 running back in the country in U-High product Nick Brossette who committed in August of 2013.
The Southeastern Conference Western Division holds all four of the top spots on 247sports.com’s rankings and the SEC as a whole claims six of the top 10 spots.
Alabama, who was No. 1 in the 2014 rankings, is at No. 3 with seven commitments.
