Junior Morgan Schuetz finished in 46th place at the NCAA South Central Regional Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas to lead the women’s team to a 12th-place finish. Junior Travis Pope came in 62nd place to help the men’s team finish 18th.
Arkansas finished in first place in the men’s 10k race with 42 points and the women’s 6k race with 29 points. The Lady Tigers’ 12th-place finish came with 330 points, and the Tigers totaled 471 points in their 18th-place finish.
Schuetz clocked in at 21 minutes and 43.4 seconds, just less than two minutes after Arkansas junior Dominique Scott crossed the line for first place. Senior Andria Aguilar finished right behind Shuetz, setting her personal best time in 21:47.8 for 52nd place.
Sophomore Chaiss Matthews came in 78th place, while senior Andrea Maxwell and sophomore Jenna Maxwell finished in 90th and 92nd place to round out the Lady Tigers’ top-100 finishes.
Pope set his personal best time with 31:33.3 en route to his 62nd place-finish. Seniors Philip Dempsey and Philip Primeaux finished in just over 32 minutes for 88th and 100th place.
The regional meet marks the last cross country meet of the season for LSU. The Tigers and Lady Tigers can be seen running again January 9th at the Carl Maddox Field House when they host the LSU Opener Indoor Track Meet.
