Who says real men can’t wear pink?
Student-run organization You Got Served will prove the naysayers wrong with the first annual Real Men Wear Pink Fashion Show this Wednesday. The community service group has partnered up with the American Cancer Society as well as area vendors and clothing stores to bring awareness to a serious cause in a light-hearted way.
Throughout October, which is National Breast Cancer Awareness month, organizations around the country will be holding various events to remember loved ones who have passed from the disease while also celebrating survivors and educating both men and women about preventative care.
The Real Men Wear Pink Fashion Show is set to feature “hunks” from around campus such as LSU faculty members, students, and athletes as well as food, giveaways, and other fun incentives for attendees. This is a can’t-miss event according to You Got Served founder and president Jian Massucco who is also a nutritional science sophomore at the University.
“People can expect a lively and vibrant show…We’re having casual, sporty, and dressy attire and a panel of judges that will be rating the guys as they walk by,” Massucco said.
In addition to the fashion, there will also be multiple live testimonies by LSU students and alumni who have survived breast cancer as well as opportunities for attendees to make donations to the American Cancer Society.
“No donation is too small or too large,” Masucco adds, “so what everyone is able to pay will get them into the show. That’s their admission into the show, just donating however much they’re able to.”
There will also be fun surprises in store for those who plan on going to the event, but you will have to be there to find out what they are (or who they are).
“We’re expecting a couple of local celebrities and dignitaries,” Massucco teased. “In fact, one of them might perform, but we can’t reveal it just yet because we don’t want to spoil everything.”
The Real Men Wear Pink fashion show will take place on Wednesday, October 8 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Royal Cotillion Ballroom located in the LSU Union.
