The LSU doubles pairing of junior Tam Trinh and sophomore Eric Perez dropped their semifinals match of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Southern Regional Tournament at Auburn University on Sunday.
Auburn’s Marko Krickovic and Lukas Ollert bested the Tiger duo in straight sets 6-2, 6-2. Trinh and Perez had previously defeated Mississippi States’ Mate Cutura and Tassilo Schmid 8-5 in the one-set quarterfinal match on Saturday.
The doubles team of junior Boris Arias and sophomore Jordan Daigle also reached the quarterfinals but, ultimately, fell 8-7 (10) to Florian Lakat and Julian Cash of Mississippi State.
In singles, Arias, senior Chris Simpson and sophomore Justin Butsch suffered defeat in the main draw quarterfinals to Stefan Lindmark of Ole Miss, Marko Krickovic of Auburn and Maxime Hinnisdaels of Auburn, respectively.
After a loss on the first day, freshman Simon Freund battled back to reach the quarterfinals of the singles consolation bracket. Tulane’s Chi-Shan Jao ended Freund’s weekend in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
The tennis team will begin play at the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas this Friday.
