The No. 5 Auburn football team made easy work of No. 15 LSU during the first half in Jordan-Hare Stadium as it went into the locker room with a 31-7 lead.
Auburn’s offense wasted no time, scoring on five of its seven first-half ddrives to open an early gap and racking up 379 yards of total offense, compared to LSU’s 170.
The lone bright spot for LSU came freshman quarterback found freshman wide receiver Malachi Dupre for a 53-yard pass that led to a one-yard touchdown to cut Auburn’s lead to 17-7.
But Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall quickly responded with another touchdown to extend its lead back to 17 points.
Marshall finished the half throwing 12-for-16 for 220 yards and two touchdowns through the air in addition to 81 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
LSU’s defense was able to muster a couple stops, but the offense couldn’t get anything going for the remainder of the half and went into the locker room failing to convert on a single third-down conversion on seven attempts.
Harris’ 53-yard bomb to Dupre proved to be his biggest contribution through the air by far, has he completed finished the half completing just three of 11 pass attempts for 58 yards.
