DJ Strangelove sits down with Danish femme fatale MØ to talk about food on tour, her awarded “best hair” by NYLON Mag, Louisiana, her punk influence, dream collaborations, fighting perfection in the 21st century, and, of course, her new album No Mythologies to Follow. Listen below and check out videos, pictures, and a track discussed in the interview. BEWARE: there were some mic issues so the clip may be loud at times. I’m sorry for any speaker trouble, but enjoy!
1. At 0:15 into the interview: ACL!
Here is a little clip of MØ covering Spice Girls’ “Say You’ll Be There” at Austin City Limits on the second Sunday. Yes, she played it at Spanish Moon and I honestly feel bad if you missed it. This festival version does not do the live cover justice.
2. At 1:54 into the interview: Talavera!
I could not find any recipe to the Danish dish Talavera. If you are familiar, I would greatly appreciate if you could share a description or recipe in the comments below. Thanks!
3. At 7:40 into the interview: MOR!
The below clip is a 2011 video of MØ’s electro punk band MOR with friend Josefine Struckmann. The track is titled “VANVIDSTIMER”
4. At 10:05 into the interview: dream collaboration!
MØ mentioned her next desired collaboration with Norwegian DJ and producer Cashmere Cat. Below is his remix of Lana Del Rey’s “National Anthem.” Big thanks to Karen (MØ’s real name) for introducing me to this song. It’s been on repeat for awhile now.
5. At 11:15 into the interview: favorite song to preform live!
MØ shared that her favorite song to perform live is “Slow Love.” Below is her live performance of the track for Vevo UK at The Great Escape 2014. Once again, this performance does not even compare to her show at a small, intimate venue like Spanish Moon on October 7. While performing the song that night, she jumped off stage, strutted past the crowd, and sat on the Spanish Moon bar to hit the high notes. And of course, MØ stage dived later that night to close out the show. Not to be creepy, but I did get to hold her for a second. it was glorious.
