The Fourth of July is only one day away, and many students are experiencing the holiday in Baton Rouge for the first time. The capital city is home to many events, including live music, fireworks, good food and flag ceremonies.
Here’s a list of different events happening around the city celebrating the nation’s 238th birthday, including the location and a description of the events being held.
USS Kidd Freedom Festival
Where: USS Kidd, 305 S River Rd Admission: Free When: 11 a.m.-4p.m.
Activities: Flag ceremony by the Nation of Patriots, live music, inflatable obstacle course, arts and crafts and ice cream and shaved ice courtesy of City Gelato and Snow Day Baton Rouge.

LSU Museum of Arts “Red White and the BLUES”
Where: Tsunami 6th floor of the Shaw Center, 100 Lafayette St.
Admission: $125 Museum members, $150 Non-members, $50 ages 5-20, ages four and under free.
When: 7-10 p.m.
Activities: Live blues, jazz and soul from Quiana Lynell, Southern BBQ, beer, wine and a rooftop view of the fireworks at 9 p.m.

L’auberge Fourth of July Celebration
Where: L’auberge Casino and Resort 777 L’auberge Ave
Admission: $20 in some locations, must be 21 to enter parts of the Casino When: 7 p.m.-2 a.m.
Activities: Fireworks viewing parties at Rooftop Pool, Edge and the Lawn. Live music from Press 1 for English and Chris LeBlanc Band.
Happy’s Irish Pub
Where: Happy’s, 136 3rd St. Admission: Free
When: Live music begins at 9 p.m.
Activities: Tyler Kitchen and the Right Pieces performing.
Boudreaux & Thibodeaux’s
Where: Boudreaux & Thibodeaux’s, 214 3rd St Admission: Free
When: Live music begins at 9 p.m.
Activities: Live music from The Heaters at 9 p.m., and music from Justin McCain at 10 p.m., American-themed drink specials.
