LSU wide receiver Rob Bolden intends to transfer before the start of the season, Associate Athletic Director Michael Bonnette confirmed via Twitter on Monday night.
Bolden’s father, Rob Bolden Sr., did not reply to requests for comment.
Bolden, who transferred from Penn State in 2012, played quarterback before switching to wide receiver during spring practice. He did not play in 2013 after sitting out the previous season as a transfer.
During the spring, Bolden ran drills as a receiver and was expected to play in that position for the 2014 season.
The 6-foot-4-inch, 209-pound senior was listed as the No. 3 quarterback behind sophomore Anthony Jennings and freshman Brandon Harris on the depth chart LSU released Monday. Bolden started 15 games during his freshman and sophomore seasons at Penn State.
Quarterbacks behind Jennings and Harris on the depth chart include freshman Jack Clise, junior Brad Kragthorpe and sophomore Brandon Bergeron, all of whom are walk-ons.
However, senior baseball player Jared Foster is expected to rejoin the football team as a reserve quarterback while still playing baseball, according to reports. Foster was a member of the 2011 football team as a walk-on and received all-state recognition while at Barbe High School in Lake Charles, La.
Foster did not respond to requests for comment regarding the report.
