Two Lady Tigers competed in the International European Ladies’ Amateur Championship at the Estonia Golf and Country Club from July 23 through 26.
Sophomore Denmark native Caroline Nistrup finished ninth overall in the tournament. She opened the event with 16 pars to finish with a score of 70, tying for sixth place overall after the first round. Three days later, she closed the tournament with three birdies, 15 pars and a final round score of 69. Nistrup’s total event score was an even par 288 (70, 74, 75, 69 through four rounds), ten shots behind Spain’s Luna Sobrόn, the eventual Championship winner.
Junior Nadine Dreher of Austria missed the final round cut after day three of the tournament. Dreher’s opening round score of 75 was her best at the event. In three rounds, she finished with a score of 232 and 16 over par.
Nistrup enjoyed a stellar freshman season at LSU, playing all 29 rounds for the Lady Tigers. Nistrup finished with 2,133 strokes, 12 rounds at par or under and a lowest single-round score of 65. She claimed All-SEC First Team, All-SEC Freshman Team and Louisiana Freshman of the Year honors in her debut campaign. Before becoming a Tiger, Nistrup was a member of the Danish National Team and currently ranks No. 3 overall in Denmark.
During her freshman season, Dreher tallied 2,236 strokes, two rounds at par or under, shot a lowest single-round score of 71. In just 12 rounds a season ago, she equaled both her lowest single-round score and rounds at par or under from the 2012-2013 season. Leading up to her LSU career, Dreher was member the Austrian National team, which competed in the European Girls Championship in 2011.
