After two days of community outcry, Highland Coffees’ closing date remains undecided.

According to NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune, landlord Hank Saurage of Saurage Rotenberg Real Estate said he wants to renegotiate leasing agreements with Clarke Cadzow, owner of Highland Coffees.

Cadzow and Saurage were unavailable for comment.

On Sunday, Cadzow told The Daily Reveille he and Saurage were unable to reach an agreement on the lease for the West Chimes Street space.

“I don’t know what they are doing, but they told me I have to get out,” Cadzow said on Sunday.
Cadzow’s plan was to move a different location in the neighborhood after closing on Dec. 24.
