Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman Cpl. Don Coppola confirmed to The Daily Reveille that LSU sophomore wide receiver Travin Dural was involved in a car wreck Sept. 7 at around 3 a.m.
LSU coach Les Miles confirmed Dural suffered minor injuries from the crash but said he should be ready to play in the Tigers’ contest against University of Louisiana-Monroe this weekend.
“He had a little accident,” Miles said. “He sustained a minor soft-tissue injury. He will play this game. He was at practice today with helmets on.”
Dural, who was driving the car with one passenger, attempted to make a left turn onto Bob Pettit Boulevard when he was struck by a car coming southbound on Nicholson Drive. Dural had a green light, but Coppola said it was an “unprotected left turn.”
Coppola said no citations were issued, according to the accident report, and Dural was not transported to the hospital.
Miles also confirmed alcohol was not involved in the incident.
Dural, who caught three touchdowns in a 56-0 rout of Sam Houston State on Saturday and leads the nation with 48.5 yards per catch, required stitches in his head after the collision, according to a report from USA Today.
